The Male Lead

mr. porter aims to be the leading man('s site)
MR PORTER

In keeping with our salute to Oscar® week, our next feature takes us to the hotly anticipated, just-launched MR. PORTER, the male offshoot of the wildy successful women’s fashion site Net-a-Porter.

After turning the world of fashion retail on its head, Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet & team’s latest effort takes aim at the fashion-conscious male — and the woman who shops for him.

Mr. Porter HomepageA strong product offering makes it easy to find timeless classics alongside this season’s favorites, and there’s plenty of original editorial content to show you not just HOW but WHY to own them. The Essentials section does just that, with the the help of quite a few classic leading men (as in the very timely images above). Particularly compelling are the “video manuals,” like Sir Paul Smith on his fondness for small, interesting touches. There’s so much style-related content & advice that you’ll soon feel that becoming a leading-man type isn’t so difficult after all. We even found some tips on shucking oysters.

Then there’s the clothes. From Johnny Depp–inspired biker boots to Steve McQueen’s look from The Thomas Crown Affair, from high-end chic to downtown hip. There’s something for every type of man, easy re-ordering, and finally some guidance for those of us who learn best by example. Thumbs up, Mr. Porter!
