The breakfast at Gora Kadan will probably be one of the most elegant meals you’ve ever eaten—and will certainly be one of the most elegant meals you’ve ever eaten on the floor. At this luxurious ryokan, meals are served in-room, on the traditionally low zataku table. While you can opt for a Western menu, it’s the traditional Japanese-style spread, reflecting the best of the region and the season, that you know you came for.

A’jia
Istanbul, Turkey
Variety is the spice of life, so they say. And certainly the Turks know a thing or two about spice. At the A’jia, breakfast by the Bosphorus is a grand meze with a little something for everyone. Choose from several local cheeses, olives, freshly baked breads and börek, honey, jams, dried apricots and cherries, and clotted cream. The immediate neighborhood is particularly well known for its yogurt, and best of all, this breakfast is served until midday, so there’s no need to rush out of bed.

Blackberry Farm

At this 4,200-acre property, gastronomy is practically a religion. So you can expect nothing short of the divine when it comes to dining, from dusk till dawn. For the ultimate breakfast-in-bed experience, request the Silver Tray, a spread of deluxe riffs on low country classics, like spicy poached farm eggs with smothered onion grits and fennel-cured bacon. The Roxbury

If the chartreuse doors are any indication, The Roxbury is not your typical bed and breakfast—which is exactly why we love it. And when it comes to breakfast, they do the classics quite well. Take their homemade sour cream coffee cake, for example. Guests have been known to order whole cakes to be delivered to their rooms. But it’s the modern touches, like organic “crop to cup” coffee and a selection of gluten-free cereals that make The Roxbury stand out.

Villa Spalletti Trivelli
Ready for the royal treatment? Villa Spalletti Trivelli knows a thing or two about the needs of nobles. This Roman oasis has been passed down through a family of aristocrats, including the Count Spalletti Trivelli, for whom the property is named. Their multi-tabled breakfast buffet is a tantalizing display of fruits, tartes, meats, cheeses and eggs, as artfully composed as an Old Master painting.

Post Ranch Inn
Northern California’s food is legendary, and the Post Ranch Inn is a great place to start your survey, if you’re keen at starting at the top. On their morning menu  you’ll find freshly baked scones with local black-sage honey, orange-brioche cinnamon rolls, and eggs Benedict with slab bacon and local chanterelles. But why let your taste buds have all the fun? The views of the Pacific and sounds of laurel trees rustling will make this breakfast experience a feast for all the senses.

International House
New Orleans, Louisiana
It takes a lot to tempt us away from the beignets at Cafe du Monde, but the Farmer’s Wellness breakfast at International House has proved worthy, including everything from farm-fresh eggs to pain perdu.

Hotel Faena + Universe
Buenos Aires, Argentina
If you’ve been partying with the porteños, you’ll understand the value of a late and lazy breakfast like the kind at the Faena. At the hotel’s restaurant, El Mercado, you can feast on hot-off-the-bone ham, buttery croissants, even get your morning fix of D.D.L. (that’s dulce de leche, to non-addicts).
