Far and Away

American Fashion Travel from the CFDA

Oh to be a fashion designer, for whom travel is an enviable mix of business and pleasure: a cobalt tile casually observed at Topkapi can become the inspiration for an entire season’s collection.

In the new book American Fashion Travel, Assouline Publishing & the Council of Fashion Designers of America bring us a cheerful, scrapbook-style collection of travel-centric questionnaires, anecdotes, and snapshots from some of the country’s most notable style icons. It never hurts to know some of the answers to some very important questions, such as what Cynthia Rowley’s favorite travel book is (“Local Color” by Truman Capote) and Vera Wang’s preferred beaches (Sandy Lane in Barbados and Las Ventanas in Baja). Lo and behold, we also discover the favorite travel site of Tina Lutz (of Lutz & Patmos): Tablet. We’re blushing.
