Paul, mid-air and minimally clad, presumably diving into a salty body of water while on holiday in Jamaica back in 1972, is one of the most memorable images captured by his late wife included the new book, Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs. The McCartneys were known to book a villa at Round Hill in Montego Bay each year at Christmas, though it’s hard to be sure of the precise setting of this photograph — the clouds don’t offer much in the way of context.

The former Beatle, with the help of his children and editors at Taschen (Annie Leibovitz among them), has produced an astounding retrospective of Linda’s lifelong career as a photographer. From early rock portraits to raising four children, the book chronicles a world of beauty, spontaneity, character and curiosity. Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs is available from Taschen on June 1.

Linda had a wonderful eye for capturing the intimate and magic of everyday life. Really looking forward to the new book.
