To celebrate your own birthday with humility and a measure of panache is no easy feat. But YouTube, everyone’s favorite online movie house, has managed to do so with the release of Life In A Day, a documentary film commissioned to mark their fifth year in business.

Nearly a year ago, director Kevin Macdonald uploaded a video asking users to submit footage describing what they would be doing on a specific day — July 24, 2010. He asked applicants to answer four rather direct questions: What do you fear most? What do you love? What makes you laugh? What’s inside your pocket? From Australia to Zambia, the call generated a response of approximately 4,500 hours of clips from the far corners of the globe. Macdonald and his team have edited the movie down to a poetic 95-minute portrait of life here on earth. Life in a Day hits theaters nationwide July 29.

So beautiful… but isn’t it strange that if we celebrate human life & this incredible planet we have, there is no sex at all in the movie?
Come on, friends of YouTube… open your mind a little, this is 21st Century.
