September 1st represents not just the start of a new month, but a whole new season. In addition to a refreshed wardrobe and another twelve episodes of Boardwalk Empire, here’s what you have to look forward to:

BOSTON
Swoon at the ICA
Swoon, the street artist with a penchant for river travel, will take her work indoors with an installation called “Anthropocene Extinction.” It will involve paper, wheat paste, and 400 pounds of bamboo.
September 3 – December 30
HUA HIN
King’s Cup Elephant Polo
This year the tournament celebrates its tenth anniversary at the Anantara Resort. A parade, which will include appearances by big brass bands, Thailand’s last elephant spirit men, and traditional dancers, will kick off a week of matches, all free and open to the public.
September 5 – 11
LOS ANGELES
Band of Horses
Ok, so the tour planned with Kings of Leon was a disaster. But the Seattle band has added solo show dates for the fall, including a night at the eye- and ear-pleasing Wiltern Theater in LA.
September 10
PARMA
Festival del Prosciutto di Parma
You’ve toured breweries, distilleries, and wineries — maybe even a cheese cave or two. Consider indulging in a new form of gastronomic tourism with a trip to Parma’s farm country.
September 9 – 18
KERALA
Carnival of Onam
Onam is the biggest festival in the southern Indian state of Kerala. The beginning of the harvest season and the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali are celebrated with ten days of music, dance, and feast.
September 9 – 19
PARIS
Design Week
Spanning food, fashion and decor, the first Paris Design week will take over six different neighborhoods in the city’s center.
September 12 – 18
SEATTLE
Trek Tri-Island
If Seattle’s food offerings tempt you to overindulgence, how about a three-day bike ride through the San Juan, Orca, and Lopez Islands as penance?
September 16 – 19
MUNICH
Oktoberfest
Sure, a case can be made for experiencing Oktoberfest (or Die Wiesn, in local speak) in one of Germany’s smaller towns, but there’s a reason why so many people flock to Munich each year: it’s fun at its fullest scale. Prost!

Thanks for the Boardwalk Empire reminder! Another one not to miss: Autumn Festival in China. If you really love Anantara, you could even hop from Thailand to the Commune by the Great Wall in Beijing, which has an awesome Anantara Spa.
